Brain
trauma is a common clinical problem, which is faced in everyday practice
by neurosurgeons, intensive care doctors, neurologists, emergency doctors
and GP specialists. Trauma patients with GCS <7 often have other organs
and systems involved, so their management is also carried out by orthopedists, thoracalists, general surgeons and many other
specialty medical professionals. Head injury is
usually followed by tremendous social and economic consequences that are
not realized in the society, until it strikes a particular person.
This
Home Page is a part of "Head and Spine Trauma: Problems, Perspectives
and Prevention" project, carried out in the Dept.
of Neurosurgery of Vilnius University Emergency Hospital.
The
main aims of this project is to provide the society and medical
professionals with the common causes, symptoms, prevention, outcome and
current state of art in management of head and spine trauma. This page is
oriented to the population of Lithuania, so main language is Lithuanian.
Information is presented separately for the professionals and non-professionals
so, we hope, the medical language and actuality problems were eliminated.
The Internet links could also be helpful in
finding answers, not covered in this site.
The
Home Page is regularly upgraded, providing readers with up-to-date
changes in the field of head and spine trauma.
