Department of Neurosurgery inside the Vilnius University Emergency Hospital was found on 1998. Twenty  highly skilled  doctors are practicing in the department. Up to 60 patients can be managed in the department together. The treatment is based on modern diagnostics (radiological, electrophysiological, angiographic, CT, MRI), three working operating rooms and highly cooperative Intensive Care Unit.

The surgical management is available in the case of:

central and peripheral nervous system trauma;

central and peripheral nervous system oncologic disorders;

hydrocephaly;

several infectious conditions;

intracranial aneurysms;

stroke;

various spinal disorders;

chronic pain and other functional neurosurgical disorders;

paediatric neurosurgical maladies.

About 1.5 thousand patients are managed and more than 1000 surgical interventions are performed in the Department per year. Emergency assistance is available for everyone, at any time. 

Department of Neurosurgery is an official study base of Vilnius University.
